Job summary

The UW-Madison Police Department is hiring Security Officers to perform vehicle, foot, and bicycle patrols, or work at fixed locations to ensure security across institutional properties. The role includes responding to emergencies, assisting with investigations, and documenting activities in line with policies and laws.

Officers will engage in routine administrative tasks, support shift operations, and participate in special events and projects.

Responsibilities

• Complete security and safety checks on institutional property by vehicle patrol, foot patrol, bicycle patrol or at a fixed location.
• Respond to emergency situations.
• Assist with safety and security investigations.
• Accurately document activities according to established policies, procedures, and applicable laws.
• Engage in problem solving and community engagement with security issues.
• Provide assistance with shift operations, administrative functions, special events, specialized assignments and projects.
• Excel at working independently and within a team.
