Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer in Reston, VA to patrol and protect facilities, deliver excellent customer service, and deter incidents at an aerospace/defense location. This role offers a weekend schedule with a driving patrol component and opportunities to grow within the company.

You will perform routine security duties, monitor access, respond to incidents, and maintain detailed logs while upholding our values of integrity and teamwork.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years old for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• A valid driver’s license is required.
• Licensing requirements may apply by state/local laws.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and contractors following site policies.
• Conduct regular foot/vehicle patrols of assigned buildings and perimeter areas.
• Monitor access to restricted areas by verifying credentials and visitor procedures.
• Respond to incidents and alarms calmly, following post orders and escalation protocols.
• Document patrols and daily activities in required logs and reports.

Position Type: Part Time

Pay Rate: $21.00 / Hour

Job Schedule:

• Sat: 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM


• Sun: 02:00 PM - 10:00 PM

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and/or contractors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at an aerospace and defense location.


• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of assigned buildings, access points, parking areas, and perimeter areas, reporting unusual conditions and maintenance concerns.


• Monitor access to restricted areas by verifying credentials, following visitor and contractor entry procedures, and reporting access-control concerns to appropriate site contacts.


• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following established post orders and escalation protocols.


• Document patrols, incidents, and daily activities accurately in required logs and reports while maintaining awareness of sensitive operational areas.

Minimum Requirements

• At least 1 year of security-related experience is required.


• A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.


• A guard card or license is preferred.


• Customer service experience is preferred.


• Comfort using a computer or tablet is preferred.


• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.


• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.


• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.


• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.


• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
