Job summary

Montefiore Nyack Hospital is seeking a Day Shift Security Guard to support the Safety & Security team. The role covers fixed posts and patrols, with coverage for no-shows and emergencies.

Must hold a High School Diploma and CPR/First Aid certification; prior hospital security experience is preferred. Responsibilities include responding to incidents, training for drills, and maintaining compliance with hospital policies.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in a hospital setting as a security guard is preferred.
• Strong leadership qualities and the ability to relate well to all types of people; act in a positive and supportive manner.
• Flexible and able to react under unusual circumstances that may alter normal routines.
• Good judgment and common sense.
• Medium proficiency in first aid and CPR; certified CPR and First Aid required.

Job description

City/State: Nyack, NewYork | Department: Safety & Security | Shift: Day (3:30PM‑12AM) | Hours Vary | Pay: $22.00 hourly (subject to change based on shift differential, experience, education or other factors).

Essential Functions

• Reports to Security Manager for overall job performance. Works with all members and staff from the hospital as well as the Security department.
• Assigned to fixed posts and hospital patrol. Covers vacant positions due to no‑shows, vacation, holiday, sick time and other emergencies that require immediate coverage.
• Courteous, pleasant, and helpful to the general public and hospital staff. Must be able to handle some tasks not necessarily security related.
• Conducts training exercises for fire drills, code silver drills, code pink and code gray alarms.
• Assures compliance with all hospital and security department policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1‑3 years of experience in a hospital setting as a security guard. Prior experience in law enforcement, firefighting, or a health‑care security role preferred.
• Strong leadership qualities and the ability to relate well to all types of people; act in a positive and supportive manner.
• Flexible and able to react under unusual circumstances that may alter normal routines.
• Good judgment and common sense.
• Medium proficiency in first aid and CPR; certified CPR and First Aid required.
• Preferred – NYS driver’s license and prior security experience.
