Job summary

Southeast Virginia Training Center is hiring a Security Officer III to join our security team at the 24-hour facility. This role serves as the first point of contact for staff, individuals, and visitors, enforcing access control and coordinating with responders in emergencies.

We seek a candidate with security knowledge, a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid driver’s license, and basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a high level of customer service, answering general inquiries and directing visitors.

  • Maintain security by enforcing access control, issuing visitor badges, and monitoring logbooks.
  • Act as a first responder in emergency situations and coordinate with police or fire departments when necessary.
  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for all staff, visitors, and individuals.

Southeastern Virginia Training Center is hiring a Security Officer III to join our Security team at our 24-hour. The Security Officer is the first point of contact for staff, individuals, and visitors at our 24-hour facility.

We are an intermediate care facility operated by the Department of Behavioral health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) where we support individuals in state-of-the-art homes with accommodations unique to their specific needs. About the Role

All new hires must successfully complete the facility’s pre-service training program. Preservice training class is 5 days long from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

Skills and experience required:

We are seeking a candidate with general knowledge of law enforcement and security procedures. We also seek the following:

  • Ability to operate a two-way radio and general announcing system.
  • Experience with general office procedures and equipment.
  • Basic computer skills, bookkeeping experience, and data entry proficiency.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history.
Bonus points if you have:
  • Prior law enforcement experience.
  • Valid Department of Justice Services (DCJS) private security registration.
