Job summary

Hendrick Health in Abilene, TX is seeking a Security Officer to support the Security Manager in safeguarding patients, employees, visitors and physicians. You will patrol facilities, monitor CCTV, control access, and respond to security incidents under state law and hospital policy.

Candidates should have a High School diploma, 2 years of related security experience, and the ability to obtain a Level III Commissioned Security Officers license within 8 weeks.

Qualifications

• 2 years relevant security experience.
• Must obtain Level III Commissioned Security Officer license within 8 weeks.
• Ability to pass PSB course within 6 months.
• Texas Driver's License with a clear record.
• Ability to pass weapon proficiency courses.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the general guidance of the Security Manager; assist in providing security for patents; employees; visitors and physicians; protects hospital buildings; assets and premise as assigned. Adheres to applicable state laws; follows Hendrick Medical Centers Policy & Security written job guides approved by the department of Security.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Education

• High School or equivalent

Minimum Work Experience

• 2 years relevant experience
• The minimum age for Security Officer is 21 years of age by date of appointment.

Required Licenses/Certifications

• Obtain and maintain a Level III Commissioned Security Officers state license from the Private Security Bureau (PSB) within 8 weeks of employment.
• Ability to pass written and physical PSB course of instruction (obtained within 6 months of employment)
• A clear and active Texas Divers License
• Maintain a clear police record
• Ability to pass prescribed course(s) in weapon proficiency

Required Skills; Knowledge; and Abilities

• Ability to deal effectively with community/consumers and hospital personnel.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Requires extreme diplomacy and tact.
• Conduct basic investigations and interview others.
• Operate security electronic equipment including CCTV and access control.
• Handles emergency or crisis situations
• Requires judgment or action that could potentially lead to the use of lethal force.
