Job summary

DMC Detroit Receiving Hospital in Detroit, MI seeks a dedicated Security Officer to protect patients, staff, visitors and property under general supervision and established procedures.

You will conduct patrols, control access by badge verification, respond to emergencies, and document incidents while upholding Tenet Healthcare values of quality, community welfare and teamwork.

This full-time role shifts evenings and requires a high school diploma and relevant security experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years in security/public law enforcement or military police.
• 2 years of college coursework in criminal justice or security plus 3+ years in security/public law enforcement.
• Completion of Michigan MCOLES certified police academy plus 3+ years in security/public law enforcement.
• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related area with internship/volunteer security experience.

Responsibilities

• Presents a visible security presence and patrols assigned areas to deter crime and enforce hospital rules.
• Manages access control by checking badges and identification of visitors entering hospital premises.
• Assists in emergencies, escorts and escorts patients or staff as needed, and responds to alarms or incidents.
• Prepares incident reports documenting significant events, investigations, and safety hazards.
• Monitors parking areas, directs traffic when required, and ensures safety compliance across hospital grounds.

Job Description

Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, provides protection to hospital, patients, visitors, employees and their property.

Responsibilities

• #CD# #CD#Presents a visible security presence in order to prevent the appearance of criminal opportunity. #CD#Performs patrols of assigned area#CD# maintains awareness of environment and observes potential security risks, takes appropriate action to prevent or suppress activity contrary to hospital rules and regulations which is criminal and/or which poses a safety hazard to persons and/or property.
• #CD# #CD#Assists patients, guest and staff by providing general information. #CD#Provides access control by checking badges and passes and identification of persons entering the hospital to prevent entry of unauthorized persons into business and patient care areas. #CD#Checks packages being brought into or removed from hospital building and grounds.
• #CD# #CD#Performs public service duties as needed (i.e., escorts patients, guests or employees#CD# assists persons locked out of vehicles or rooms#CD# opens or locks doors#CD# provides battery boosts). #CD#Assists with restraints and lifting of patients as needed.
• #CD# #CD#Investigates complaints regarding parking, safety and security matters, disorderly or suspicious persons, etc. #CD#Prepares reports documenting all significant events and investigations, crimes committed, lost or found property, safety hazards, repair requests, and the like.
