Kennedy University Hospitals, Inc is seeking a dedicated Security Officer for the Kennedy University campus in Turnersville, NJ. The role entails protecting personnel, patients, students, visitors, and Jefferson assets.

You will patrol, respond to service calls, verify badges, and escort unauthorized persons from campus. The position requires a high school diploma, and experience in security or related fields is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior security, police or military experience preferred; campus/hospital security experience strongly preferred.
• PA only: Valid ACT 235 Certification within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s License required to work at certain Jefferson locations.
• Must understand responsibilities and technology of the 24-hour Security Response Center (SRC).
• Ability to work all shifts and rotate as needed.
• Uniformed position requiring professional appearance and security instruments.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and staff per Jefferson values.
• Performs security patrols at fixed posts or on patrol; checks for unauthorized persons and escorts from campus.
• Responds to calls for service and communicates conditions to supervisor.
• Investigates and documents accidents, incidents, or suspicious activities; maintains patrol logs.
• Provides assistance to employees, students, patients, and visitors during incidents.
• Assist with campus parking issues; patrol parking lots and equipment.
• Support safety teams and assist with trauma helicopter landings and fire-related emergencies.
• Enforce No Smoking policies on campus; perform related security duties as assigned.

Job Details

Provides maximum protection for the safety and security of university and hospital personnel, patients, students, visitors and Jefferson assets. Performs security duties either at a fixed post, or on patrol or while making rounds of buildings and grounds. Responses to calls for service. Checks for unauthorized persons, general security violations and fire or safety hazards. Capable of being assigned to any fixed post or patrol duties in any environment, and on any shift. Assists patients/visitors/students by giving directions or information when requested.

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Performs security patrols at either fixed post or on patrol, including general security violations and fire or safety hazards. Verifies the appropriateness of persons on property by checking identification badges and escorting all unauthorized persons from campus as necessary.
• Responds promptly to calls for service, including priority or serious incidents, problems or emergencies. Notifies supervisor (Sergeant or Lieutenant) of conditions. May be required to diffuse emergency situations with conflict resolution skills.
• Investigates and documents reports on accidents, incidents or suspicious activities. Maintains daily patrol log during tours. Submits completed log to Sergeant/Shift Supervisor upon completion of tour. Provides follow-up information to Security Investigator and/or Lieutenant as directed.
• Provides assistance to employees, students, patients, patient family and visitors as incidents occur, including security escorts upon request.
• Assist with campus parking issues; patrol parking lots and parking lot equipment.
• Supports safety teams, including assisting the Trauma Team with the landing of helicopters and with fire-related emergencies. Enforces all No Smoking environments both inside and outside on the campus.
• Performs other related security, safety and protection duties as assigned, including but not limited to the support loss prevention (i.e. inspecting deliveries and packages) and assisting with the training of new security staff as directed.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior security, police or military experience is preferred. Experience in campus/hospital security, law enforcement, or other related Criminal Justice agencies strongly preferred.
• PA only: Valid ACT 235 Certification required within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s License required to work at certain Jefferson locations.
• Must be able to understand all responsibilities and technology associated with the 24-hour Security Response Center (SRC).
• Ability to function effectively with Microsoft desktop applications (i.e. Word, E-mail).
• Ability to work all shifts, and rotate between shifts as needed.
• This is a highly visible uniform position. Officers must be able to present excellent appearance at all times and also be equipped with all required security instruments.

Salary Range

The actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.

Positions posted as annual salaries reflect an estimated amount for a 1.0 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) (i.e. 40 hour equivalent)), positions for less than 1.0 FTE will be prorated.)
