Hackensack Meridian Health Inc. seeks a Security Officer to ensure the safety of patients, team members, physicians and visitors at the Medical Center.

The role emphasizes vigilance, incident reporting, and courteous guest service throughout the facility. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, strong communication, and computer skills; preferred are 2 years of college credits and security or law enforcement experience.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
• Preferred: 2 years of college credits.
• Preferred: prior security officer or law enforcement experience.
• Valid driver's license; background checks conducted biennially.
• Regular contact with medical personnel and visitors.
• Must be able to stand/walk 8–12 hours and lift/push 100 lbs.

Responsibilities

• The Security Officer will be responsible for the safety and well-being of patients, staff, physicians, visitors and Medical Center property.
• Perform continuous surveillance, report incidents and document actions.
• Provide quality guest services and assistance to all persons visiting the Medical Center.

The Security Officer will assume responsibility for the safety and well-being of patients, team members, physicians, visitors, students and Medical Center property. These responsibilities include but are not limited to continuous surveillance, reporting and documenting all incidents and remaining sensitive to the need for delivery of quality guest services and assistance to all persons visiting the Medical Center.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient computer skills that may include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

• 2 years of college credits.
• Previous experience as Security Officer or Law Enforcement experience.

Licenses and Certifications Required:

• Possession of a valid driver's license
• Full scale State, County, Federal, and License Check will be conducted every other year.

Contacts:

• Regular contact with medical personnel and its visitors.

Working Conditions:

• Must be able to stand and walk for a long period of time, 8-12 hrs a day and lift a minimum of 100 lbs., push and pull a minimum of 100 lbs. Ability to ascend/descend 2-10 flight stairs. Ability to handle disorderly and/or abusive patients and visitors. This will include behavioral patients and patients brought into the Emergency Trauma Department under arrest.
