Job summary

Allied Universal, a leading security services provider, seeks a Security Officer Flex Unarmed Patrol in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. This part-time, flexible role lets you select shifts via our Claim a Shift platform while maintaining a visible security presence in a busy retail environment.

You will patrol unarmed, monitor entrances, respond to incidents, document events, and assist tenants, employees, and guests with professional, customer‑focused service.

Qualifications

• Customer service experience preferred.
• Alarm panel experience preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required by law.
• Licensing requirements may apply.
• Driver's license required for driving positions only.

You will respond to concerns, document activity, and support visitors, tenants, and staff with clear communication and customer-focused service. What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to tenants, employees, and guests by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout common areas, exterior walkways, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and/or identify hazards.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, providing assistance, gathering information, and notifying appropriate personnel as needed.
• Monitor entrances, loading areas, and other access points as assigned, helping to verify authorized access and/or observe for policy violations.
• Document security-related activity, incidents, and observations in written reports and/or electronic logs, and communicate significant issues to site leadership per post orders.

Minimum Requirements

• Customer service experience is preferred.
• Alarm panel experience is preferred.
• Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
