Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Flex Packing Plant in Shelby, MI to safeguard clients across healthcare, education, finance, retail, and more. The role offers 30–40 hours weekly with a variable schedule and opportunities for career growth, with shifts assigned by management or through our Earn More, Claim-A-Shift program.

You’ll perform patrols, monitor for security issues, respond to alarms, and complete required reports while delivering courteous service to customers and staff.

Qualifications

• Willing to work varying shifts, including holidays, nights, and weekends.
• Have reliable transportation.
• Available for last-minute shift scheduling.
• Willing to travel to work sites.
• At least 18 years old (unarmed) or 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Subject to background investigation; compliant with laws.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.
• License requirements depend on state/local regulations; driver’s license may be required for driving positions.
• Ability to speak, read, and write in multiple languages is a plus.
• Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle.
• Monitor for irregular conditions creating security or safety hazards.
• Sound alarms or contact police/fire as needed.
• Warn violators of infractions such as loitering or forbidden articles.
• Permit entry of authorized persons; monitor entrances and exits.
• Observe departing personnel to deter theft and ensure proper removal.
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain logs.
• Assist customers, employees, visitors professionally.
• Make emergency notifications as required by post orders.

Please note that you will be assigned to work irregular shifts with little to no advance notice to support client needs.

Pay Rate: $18.30 / Hour

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform security patrols of designated areas on foot or in vehicle
• Watch for irregular or unusual conditions that may create security concerns or safety hazards
• Sound alarms or call police or fire department in case of fire or presence of unauthorized persons
• Warn violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles
• Permit authorized persons to enter property and monitors entrances and exits
• Observe departing personnel to protect against theft of company property and ensures that authorized removal of property is conducted within appropriate client requirements
• Investigate and prepare reports on accidents, incidents, and suspicious activities; maintain written logs as required by the post
• Aid customers, employees, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
• Make emergency notifications as necessary pursuant to site Post Orders

Basic Qualifications:

• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
