Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer (Part Time Unarmed Patrol Access Control) in Newport News, VA. You will patrol manufacturing and industrial locations, monitor access, and provide professional customer service while maintaining a visible security presence.

The role emphasizes flexible scheduling, access to our Shift-claim platform, and a collaborative, caring culture. The position pays $18.00 per hour with a part-time schedule including Mon and Sun shifts.

Qualifications

• Have at least one year of security-related experience.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Guard card or license preferred.
• Comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, contractors, and/or delivery drivers while carrying out site-specific procedures and security-related protocols at a manufacturing and industrial location.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of production areas, repair and fabrication workspaces, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter boundaries to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
• Monitor access points and verify authorized entry for employees, visitors, contractors, and/or vendors in accordance with site procedures.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and communicating with appropriate site contacts and emergency responders.
• Report maintenance concerns, hazards, damaged property, and other unusual conditions observed during patrols through established reporting procedures.

• Mon: 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM
• Sun: 07:00 AM - 03:00 PM

What You'll Do:

Minimum Requirements:

• Have at least one year of security-related experience.
• Access control and badge experience is preferred.
• Customer service experience is preferred.
• A guard card or license is preferred.
• Be comfortable using a computer or tablet.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
