Allied Universal in Washington, DC is seeking a Security Officer Enhanced Part Time Patrol Security Experience to provide reliable security and customer service at our campus site.

You will work fixed shifts with the option to pick up additional shifts, earn $21.15 per hour, and gain hands-on experience toward a full-time security career with the industry leader.

This role requires 21+ years of age, a HS diploma or GED, and adherence to background checks and drug screening where required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of security-related experience required.
• Guard card or license preferred.
• Access control and badge experience preferred.
• X-ray screening experience preferred.
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Be at least 18 for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Background investigations as per law.
• Drug screen as permitted by law.
• Licensing may be required by state/local laws.
• A valid driver’s license required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus community members by carrying out security procedures and campus policies.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations calmly and according to campus protocols.
• Conduct regular and random foot and vehicle patrols of buildings, residences, parking facilities, and campus grounds.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, hazards, or policy violations.
• Complete accurate reports and maintain professional communication with stakeholders, law enforcement, and responders.

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.


• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities:

• Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and campus community members by carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and, when appropriate, emergency response activities.


• Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, following established campus protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.


• Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of academic buildings, residence areas, parking facilities, and surrounding campus grounds to help deter unauthorized activity.


• Monitor access points and report suspicious activity, hazardous conditions, maintenance concerns, and policy violations to designated personnel.


• Complete accurate reports and maintain professional communication with campus stakeholders, law enforcement, and emergency responders as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least 2 years of security-related experience is required.


• A guard card or license is preferred.


• Access control and badge experience is preferred.


• X-ray screening experience is preferred.


• Customer service experience is preferred.


• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.


• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.


• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
