Allied Universal is seeking a Security Officer Enhanced Access Control in Detroit, MI to provide site access control, assist visitors, monitor entry points, and respond to incidents with a professional presence.

The position offers fixed anchor shifts, the option to pick up extra shifts via our scheduling platform, and a $16.50 hourly rate to earn more while building security experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of security-related experience.
• Age 18+ for unarmed roles; 21+ for armed roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Background check required by law.
• Drug screen required where permitted.
• Licensing requirements may be required by state/local laws.
• Valid driver’s license for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, clergy, staff, volunteers, and vendors by carrying out site-specific access control procedures.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and visitor authorization, maintain visitor logs, and direct guests to appropriate areas.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations calmly and report to site contacts and responders.
• Deter unauthorized access by monitoring restricted areas and challenging unauthorized individuals.
• Conduct regular patrols of entrances, offices, and perimeter and note security hazards.

As a Security Officer Enhanced Access Controlin Detroit, MI, this role is designed to provide reliable, consistent hours at an assigned site with the flexibility to earn more by picking‑up additional shifts when it works for you.

Pay Rate: $16.50 / Hour

Job Schedule: DayTimeThur12:00 AM - 08:00 AM

How This Role Works:

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim-A-Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick-up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part-time hours this week and full-time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part-time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build-up to a full-time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to visitors, clergy, staff, volunteers, and vendors by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
• Monitor entry and exit points, verify credentials and visitor authorization, maintain visitor logs, and direct guests to appropriate areas of the cultural institution.
• Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, communicating observations to appropriate site contacts and emergency responders as needed.
• Help to deter unauthorized access by monitoring restricted areas, challenging unauthorized individuals in accordance with site procedures, and reporting unusual activity.
• Conduct regular and random patrols of entrances, public areas, offices, gathering spaces, and the perimeter, noting access control concerns and security‑related hazards.

Minimum Requirements

• Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
• Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
