Job summary

Community Health Network in Indiana seeks a Security Officer to maintain a safe, secure environment for patients, visitors and caregivers.

The role includes incident response, safeguarding patient valuables, inventory of weapons, and coordination with law enforcement as needed. Indiana driver’s license and high school diploma required; hazmat and handgun licenses may be required within a year.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Current Indiana Driver’s License required.
• One year of security experience in a healthcare or related setting preferred.
• Hazmat Certification Level 1 and Indiana License to Carry a Handgun within one year from hire.

• Provide surveillance, personal escort, courier service, vehicle assistance and inspections.

Our Security Officers serve to provide an overall environment of safety and security. This role serves and supports the patient delivery system, minimizing disruption, renders service support as needed to run hospital operations, and strives to provide an exceptional positive experience to all people. This role will be responsible for critical incident management, ensures responsible care of patient valuables, weapons in our control and completing property inventory logs as required, ensure that patient valuables are well maintained, and items are accounted for, establishes an active security presence, providing surveillance, personal escort, courier service, vehicle assistance and inspections. This position requires knowledge of acceptable norms within the environment, including specific knowledge to respond safely and quickly to all designated Community Health Network locations.

Exceptional Skills And Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Current Indiana Driver’s License required.
• One year of security experience in a healthcare or related setting preferred.
• Must obtain Hazmat Certification Level 1 and Indiana License to Carry a Handgun within one year from hire.
• Ability to utilize departmental policy and the Use of Force Continuum guidelines, e.g., AIDET, AVADE de-escalation skills, Defensive Tactics, Pepper Spray, TASER, citizen arrest.
