Job summary

Makena Golf & Beach Club in Maui, Hawaii seeks a full-time Security Officer to provide concierge security for members, guests, and staff. You will protect assets, respond to emergencies, manage access control, and report incidents with accuracy.

The role requires a Hawaii Guard Card, excellent communication, teamwork, and the ability to work evenings, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Medical, dental, vision benefits, 401k, and PTO are offered.

Responsibilities

• Maintain concierge security for all members, guests, and employees on property.
• Provide superior customer service to Makena standards.
• Protect assets: people, facilities, and property; manage liability risk.
• Respond to emergencies with urgency and coordinate with security leadership and external services.
• Be first contact for external emergency services when required.
• Provide emergency and minor medical response as needed.
• Operate access-control systems and log relevant data.
• Identify and report safety hazards and security vulnerabilities.
• Perform field audits and report findings to management.
• Prepare reports and daily activity logs, and respond to requests within 4 hours.

This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company’s locations: Makena Beach & Golf Club, set on Maui, Hawai'i. Makena Beach & Golf Club is seeking a full-time Security Officer to join the Security team.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Maintain the personal “concierge” security approach for all members, guests, and employees while on property.
• Provide superior customer service to the standards of Makena.
• Secure and protect all of the company's assets: people, facilities, and property.
• Protect the company's reputation and intellectual assets with a focus on liability protection.
• Respond to emergency situations with a sense of urgency and maintain open communication flow with Security Supervisor, Director of Security, across departments, and with external emergency services.
• May be the first point of contact for external emergency services.
• Provide emergency and minor medical response as required.
• Provide access-control utilizing sound judgment and company‑provided tools such as access control systems or access control lists and logs.
• Detect, investigate, and deny access of unauthorized persons.
• Recognize and elevate to management all safety hazards and security vulnerabilities detected through the course of their shift.
• Perform regular field audits (checklists) for facilities and elevate findings to management.
• Effectively use company‑provided computer systems to complete reports and audits.
• Complete all paperwork and reports as necessary, including but not limited to a daily activity report.
• Provide detailed reports on all events and incidents on the property.
• Respond efficiently to all Director of Security requests either via email, text, or phone.
• Unless extenuating circumstances exist ALL correspondence MUST be answered within 4 hours.

Skills & Qualifications

• Hawaii Guard Card required.

• Positive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.
• Prior customer service experience preferred.
• Ability to work in a team environment.
• Ability to stay calm and focused in unstable situations.
• Exceptional organizational skills with previous experience handling confidential issues.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.
• May be required to work outside of regular work hours at short notice.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling Must be able to walk and stand for prolonged periods of time up to and including an entire shift.
