Job summary

The Security Officer at M Social Sunnyvale will help protect guests, staff, and assets by patrolling the property, monitoring security systems, and responding to incidents with professionalism and care. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct routine patrols of guest areas, public spaces, parking facilities, back-of-house areas, and the exterior of the hotel.
• Monitor CCTV, fire life safety systems, alarms, and access control systems.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, safety concerns, and guest incidents.
• Assist with evacuations and emergency response procedures when necessary.
• Prepare accurate incident reports and preserve evidence; cooperate with authorities when needed.

About the Role:

As our Security Officer, you will help protect our guests, employees, visitors, and hotel assets by maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the property. You will conduct routine patrols, monitor security systems, respond to incidents, and support emergency preparedness while delivering professional, service-focused interactions.

What You'll Be Doing

Safety & Security Operations

• Conduct routine patrols of guest areas, public spaces, parking facilities, back-of-house areas, and the exterior of the hotel


• Monitor CCTV systems, fire life safety systems, alarms, and access control systems


• Respond promptly to emergencies, disturbances, safety concerns, and guest incidents


• Assist with evacuations and emergency response procedures when necessary


• Secure hotel entrances, exits, and restricted areas as required

Incident Response & Reporting

• Investigate incidents involving guests, employees, vendors, or property


• Prepare accurate and detailed incident, accident, and daily activity reports


• Document safety concerns and recommend corrective actions


• Preserve evidence and cooperate with local law enforcement and emergency responders when appropriate


• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all investigations

Guest & Employee Assistance

• Provide assistance and directions to guests and visitors


• Respond to guest concerns in a courteous, calm, and professional manner


• Escort guests or employees when requested


• Support a safe, welcoming environment while delivering exceptional customer service


• Assist with lost-and-found procedures and property recovery

Risk Prevention

• Identify potential safety hazards and security vulnerabilities throughout the property


• Conduct routine inspections of emergency equipment, exits, lighting, and safety systems


• Monitor compliance with company safety policies and procedures


• Report maintenance or life safety concerns promptly to the appropriate departments

Team Collaboration

• Work closely with Front Office, Engineering, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, and hotel leadership


• Coordinate with local law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency medical services when necessary


• Participate in safety meetings, drills, and ongoing training


• Promote a culture of safety, awareness, and accountability across all departments


• Passion for hospitality and maintaining a safe guest environment


• Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills


• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure

• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications


• Valid California Guard Card (Security Guard Registration)

Technical / Role-Specific Requirements

• Previous security, loss prevention, law enforcement, military, or hospitality security experience preferred


• Knowledge of CCTV, fire life safety systems, and access control systems preferred


• Experience preparing detailed incident and investigative reports


• Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and report-writing systems

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a hotel, resort, or commercial property preferred


• Experience responding to emergencies and guest incidents


• Knowledge of OSHA and workplace safety regulations


• Bilingual abilities are a plus

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift


• Frequently patrol multiple floors, stairwells, parking areas, and outdoor spaces


• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds when necessary


• Ability to respond quickly to emergencies, including running, climbing stairs, and assisting guests or employees when required
