Job summary

Phoebe Putney Health System is seeking a PRN Security position for the Sumter Campus. You will provide safety and security for patients, employees, and visitors, and protect hospital buildings and assets.

Responsibilities include patrols by vehicle and on foot, responding to access requests, keeping hallways clear, and securing access points according to policy. Relevant security or law enforcement background is preferred.

• 2–3 years healthcare security and/or law enforcement experience (guard service or military police) preferred.

Essential Functions

• Provide safety and security for facility.
• Patrols daily, by vehicle and on foot, all hospital buildings on campus grounds to detect, deter, or address .
• Responds immediately to authorized requests for access to internal offices.
• Maintains safety and security of warehouse through door checks and random vehicle and walking patrols.
• Patrols all parking lots and assists visitors; escorts, when required, by vehicle or on foot patrol.
• Keeps all Emergency Center hallways and ambulance ramp clear.
• Inspects all access points to hospital authority building and internal offices, securing same when not occupied, following department policy and procedure.

Additional Duties

Adheres to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines. Performs all job responsibilities in alignment with the core values, mission and vision of the organization. Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures. Maintains current knowledge in present areas of responsibility (i.e., self education, attends ongoing educational programs). Attends staff meetings and completes mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time. Demonstrates competency at all levels in providing care to all patients based on age, sex, weight, and demonstrated needs. For non-clinical areas, has attended training and demonstrates usage of age-specific customer service skills. Wears protective clothing and equipment as appropriate.
