Job summary

Avera is seeking a security professional for night shifts to ensure safety of patients, staff, and visitors at the Marion Rd location. The role involves patrolling facilities, restraining patients when required, and coordinating with local authorities as needed.

Responsibilities include monitoring premises, reporting hazards, and supporting investigations. A strong focus on communication, discretion, and teamwork helps maintain a secure hospital environment 6:00pm–6:00am with a rotating schedule

Qualifications

  • Visual acuity and ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions and adhere to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide security for patients, employees, and visitors; protect hospital buildings and premises.
  • Patrol hospital buildings and premises to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, and intruders.
  • Monitor conduct of visitors on hospital premises.
  • Confront unauthorized persons for questioning as needed.
  • Report safety or fire hazards or security violations.
  • Respond to inquiries for advice or assistance from hospital personnel, students, and visitors.
  • Provide restraints for psychiatric patients as needed.
  • Escort personnel to parking lots and hospital buildings as requested.
  • Participate in investigations; maintain records and prepare incident reports.
  • Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities as required.
  • Control parking and traffic flow; enforce parking regulations.
  • Respond to all emergency codes and security requests.
  • Mentor security interns; liaise with law enforcement.

Position Highlights
  • Nights shifts 6:00pm-6:00am
  • 2-week rotating schedule: 1st week 36 hours (3-12 hour shifts) & 2nd week 48 hours (4-12 hour shifts)
  • Every other weekend off

  • Secure and/or unlock offices and facilities as required.
  • May secure patient valuables or lost and found articles.
  • Maintains log of items received.
  • Control parking and traffic flow.
  • Enforce parking regulations.
  • Respond to all emergency codes and security requests (i.e. Staff Assist, Security Alert, Fire alarms).
  • Respond to CARE Flight operations as needed.
  • Mentors security interns in the role of security.
  • Serves as a liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
