Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergencies, codes and alarms.
  • Detain unauthorized persons and coordinate with authorities.
  • Escort visitors and employees as appropriate.
  • Control parking and traffic flow and enforce rules.
  • Prepare incident reports and assist law enforcement when required.

Compensation

USD $17.14/Hr. – USD $26.56/Hr.

Qualifications
  • Education:
    • High School Diploma, or the equivalency, is required.
  • Licensure/Certification/Registry:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 30 days of job placement is required.
    • Must possess a valid Illinois driver’s license and must be deemed an acceptable driver in accordance with the MH Fleet Safety Policy. A five‑year MVR will be required. Must be able to operate an automatic shift vehicle.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year experience in security, military or law enforcement is strongly preferred.
  • Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Effective communication, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse range of people, including the proper handling of emotional situations and needs.
    • Customer service and active listening techniques.
    • De‑escalation techniques.
    • Maintaining a high level of confidentiality.
    • Assessing and evaluating situations quickly and effectively.
    • Physical capability to perform sustained foot patrols, prolonged standing, sustained sitting, lifting patients, and restraining patients or prisoners as necessary.
    • Proficiency with computer systems including Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook).
Responsibilities
  • Patrol buildings and grounds, including fixed posts, walking patrols, or mobile patrols using a company vehicle to travel around and between Memorial locations.
  • Provide a visible deterrence to crime, prohibited activities, or suspicious activities.
  • Intercede in disputes between individuals by using verbal de‑escalation techniques and skills to diffuse potentially violent patient, employee, or visitor situations.
  • Physically manage combative, violent persons who criminally endanger staff, physicians, patients or visitors.
  • Participate in property control procedures (accepting, recording, storing, returning, or releasing) for patient valuables, accounting details, and morgue details.
  • Respond to emergency situations, emergency codes and alarms.
  • Detain unauthorized individuals as defined by policy or state law, and release them to the proper authorities.
  • Assist air medical teams and transport air‑lifted patients between helipad and hospital.
  • Control parking and traffic flow and enforce parking regulations.
  • Provide visitor and employee escorts as appropriate.Report any conditions that might constitute a security or safety hazard.
  • Provide access control to restricted spaces by locking and unlocking doors.
  • Investigate and report on any suspicious activity or persons.
  • Obtain written or oral statements related to incidents on MH property.
  • Prepare incident reports.
  • Assist local law enforcement agencies during investigations or emergencies.
