Job summary

Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, NV is seeking a security officer to patrol and protect guests and property. You will respond to calls, monitor CCTV, and assist with safety protocols in a dynamic, entertainment-focused environment.

Starting rate is $19/hour. Responsibilities include standing or patrolling for long periods, handling emergencies with CPR/first aid, and coordinating with the casino team to ensure a secure guest experience.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English clearly.
  • Strong social and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in hot/cold environments, with exposure to noise/wet conditions.
  • Physically capable for a medium work level as per US DOL.
  • Knowledge of CPR, first aid, AED and basic safety equipment.
  • Basic math to verify/balance reports and calculations.
  • Good attendance and neat, well-groomed appearance.

Responsibilities

  • Patrol assigned areas by foot, vehicle, or standing for extended periods.
  • Respond to emergencies, provide CPR/first aid, and follow safety protocols.
  • Communicate clearly with dispatch, supervisors, and colleagues via radios/phones.
  • Assist guests with directions, information, and getting help as needed.
  • Attend shift meetings and follow internal property guidelines.

Job Description
STARTING RATE: $19/hour
General Summary Of Duties:

Patrol, walk/vehicle patrol or stand in assigned area (assignment changes daily) observing all activity, responding to calls as directed by the dispatcher and/or supervisor. Perform proactive and enforcement functions in a courteous and restrained manner in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances and threats to life and/or property to maintain a safe and secure environment.

Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)
  • Ability at assigned station/area, stand and/or move on a continuous basis for up to 3 hours, to observe and identify potential security/safety risks, suspicious persons/activity, or undesirable conditions or hazards. Intermittently, drive department vehicle(s) or bicycle to patrol parking garage/lots and property perimeter. Observe the CCTV monitors for unusual activity.
  • Ability to respond to emergency situations (i.e., CPR, first aid, other medical emergencies, fire), undesired conduct and violations of property, policy and/or civil law as warranted for the safety/security of guests, employees and property. Ability to provide instructions and/or guidance for guest/employee safety.
  • Ability to remain calm and alert, especially during emergency situations and/or heavy property activity, serving as a role model for other employees.
  • Ability to investigate safety/security matters on behalf of guests and employees. Document accurate and pertinent information for incident reports and logs.
  • Ability to clearly communicate via two-way radios and telephones to the dispatcher for directions/instructions and assistance, as well as supervisors and fellow officers.
  • Ability to provide "guest" satisfaction through assistance, direction and information within property/department guidelines.
  • Attend and participate in shift meetings to receive instructions and information regarding internal property concerns.
  • Assist with the verification and escort of gaming currency and table boxes to/from the casino cage (usually casino positions only)
Qualifications
Performance Requirements: (Knowledge, skills and abilities)
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, to follow written and/or verbal instructions, to provide clear direction/guidance, and to communicate with others.
  • Social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to employee or management inquiries/concerns using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions, and/or offering assistance, giving accurate information regarding plans, policies, or procedures within guidelines.
  • Ability to perform duties within hot to normal to cold temperature ranges and unfavorable conditions which can occasionally be noisy and wet.
  • Possess physical strength required for the job, consistent with a medium work level, as defined by the US Department of Labor.
  • Knowledge of safety/security practices and procedures including: C.P.R., emergency first aid, semi-automatic defibrillator and basic emergency fire equipment.
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary to verify/balance reports and perform simple calculations.
  • Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with standards.
  • Ability to maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance.

Education Requirements
  • Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to obtain/renew all government required licenses or certification. [Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Gaming Work Permit; Alcohol Awareness Certificate; Valid Driver's License; American Red Cross Community First Aid and Safety Certificate and American Red Cross Adult, Infant and Child CPR Certificate). Certified in the proper use of the semi-automatic defibrillator and handcuffing procedures.
