Job Description

A Security Officer at The Knox is, first and foremost, a Hospitality Professional. Their primary responsibility is to promote and protect the safety, security, and well-being of the hotel’s guests and Team Members while upholding the service standards and atmosphere of The Knox.

Security Officers are expected to conduct themselves with warmth, professionalism, discretion, and decorum at all times. Their presence should reflect a genuine commitment to assisting others, creating a welcoming environment, and enhancing the overall guest experience. Their approach should emphasize service, reassurance, and hospitality rather than enforcement, intimidation, or authority.

  • Maintain a visible, welcoming security presence throughout the hotel and private residences. Patrol assigned areas and document checkpoints and actions taken.
  • Proactively identify and report safety hazards, unsecured doors, suspicious activity, and unusual conditions through clear, timely activity logs and incident reports.
  • Assist guests and residents with access requests, following verification procedures and protecting their privacy.
  • Respond calmly and promptly to guest, resident, and Team Member concerns, using de-escalation to support a safe, service-focused environment.
  • Respond to accidents, medical situations, and emergencies; provide First Aid, CPR, and AED assistance within current certifications, and coordinate with emergency responders.
  • Monitor CCTV, alarms, fire and life-safety panels, and access-control points; follow post orders and emergency procedures, and participate in drills and training.
  • Coordinate with Front Office, Residences, Engineering, Talent & Culture, and other departments to support property safety. Document incidents objectively and elevate them to the Director of Security or appropriate leader.
  • Log and safeguard items received by Security and release them only to verified owners, following hotel procedures.
Qualifications
  • A genuine hospitality professional first: warm, composed, discreet, and service-oriented, with the presence and judgment to protect an ultra-luxury environment without ever compromising its grace
  • Prior experience as a Security Officer or in a comparable safety, Loss-prevention, or guest-service role; experience within a luxury hotel, residential, or resort environment is strongly preferred
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write clear, factual, objective incident reports and communicate calmly under pressure
  • Sound judgment, situational awareness, and emotional intelligence, with a demonstrated ability to de-escalate and remain composed in dynamic situations.
  • Hold a valid Driver's Licence in good standing
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule, including overnights, weekends, and holidays, consistent with the 24-hour needs of a hotel and residential community
  • Current certification in CPR, AED and Basic First Aid from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or the ability to obtain certification.
