Job summary

Cologix is seeking a Security Officer to provide a physical layer of security at a Cologix location. You will enforce policies to protect employees, guests, and facilities while upholding safety and security standards.

Daily tasks include guarding entrances, monitoring cameras, managing visitor badges, logging entries, performing security checks, coordinating with local authorities during emergencies, and supporting shipping, receiving, and incident response.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; 1+ year related experience and/or training
• SORA license preferred
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Punctual, reliable, flexible; able to work additional hours as needed
• Basic computer skills required

Responsibilities

• Verify identities of employees, customers and visitors.
• Monitor interior and exterior cameras and address policy infractions or emergencies.
• Control visitor access and issue temporary badges; deny entry when criteria not met.
• Maintain accurate logs of entries using the PeopleTracker system.
• Conduct security checks and patrol the facility interior/exterior. Document findings.
• Monitor entry access and fire alarms; respond to alarms and emergencies.
• Notify local authorities in emergencies; act as first responder for medical incidents.
• Perform shipping and receiving duties per defined process.
• Respond to job tickets, cases and emails in the security department promptly.
• Keep security offices, equipment and loading docks clean and organized.
• Seek guidance from Security Supervisor when needed.
• Perform additional duties as assigned

About the Position:

As a Security Officer with Cologix you will be responsible for providing a physical layer of security at a Cologix location. Security Officers are responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures pertaining to the safety and security of Cologix employees, guests and facilities.

What you do daily:

• Verifies the identities of employees, customers and visitors entering and exiting the facility.
• Monitors all interior and exterior cameras. Immediately addresses any policy infractions, emergency situations or suspicious activity.
• Controls the access of permitted visitors and provides them with temporary access (visitor badges). Denies individuals who do not meet the entry criteria.
• Keeps an accurate log of all visitors/vendors that have gained entry to the facility by using the PeopleTracker system.
• Responsible for conducting numerous physical security checks per shift. Personnel will patrol the interior and exterior of their assigned building looking for unsecured doors/windows, signs of tampering and any unauthorized individuals. All checks will be documented and will include any findings.
• Monitors entry access and fire systems for all pertinent alarms and responds accordingly.
• Notifies the proper local authorities (police department, fire department, rapid response) in the event of an emergency situation.
• Acts as a first responder in the event of a medical emergency.
• Performs shipping and receiving duties using defined process.
• Responds to job tickets, cases and emails within the security department in a timely manner.
• Responsible for ensuring all security offices, equipment and loading docks are clean and organized.
• Seeks guidance from the Security Supervisor when help is needed.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one or more years related experience and/or training
• Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) license preferred
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Exceptional customer service skills
• Must be punctual, reliable, flexible and willing to work additional hours when necessary to meet the demands of the department
• Basic computer skills required
