Job summary

Wegmans in Buffalo, NY is seeking an Asset Protection Officer to help keep customers and employees safe while maintaining a visible security presence in-store and in the parking lot.

You will patrol entrances, escort staff and customers, handle conflicts, and inspect security doors and gates. The role requires police officer experience and a firearm license.

Qualifications

• 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority.
• Valid license to carry a firearm.
• Valid driver's license.
• Conflict management and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Sound judgement and ability to work under pressure.
• Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities.

What You’ll Do

• Monitor store environment to deter undesirable activity on the property

Requirements

• 1+ years full-time experience as a sworn police officer with arrest authority in a military, municipal, county, state, or federal police agency
• Valid license to carry a firearm
• Valid driver’s license
• Conflict management and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Sound judgement skills and ability to manage conflict and communicate effectively under pressure
• Effective communication skills and ability to maintain composure in stressful environments
• Ability to anticipate, analyze and identify opportunities

Preferred Experience

• Associate’s degree in criminal justice or related field
• Certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
• AED, APR and FAC certified
