Job summary

Ochsner is seeking a Security Officer to safeguard patients, guests, and staff. You will enforce policies, conduct site inspections, respond to incidents, and support emergency preparedness drills in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications include a High School diploma, ability to read and communicate in English, and basic computer/data-entry skills. Flexible schedule and reliable mobility across campus are required.

Responsibilities

• Enforces safety and security rules for company property.

• Maintains annual certifications and training within required timeframes.
• Operates and manages visitor management system.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (within 30 days from hire)
• Valid driver's license in the state of practice and clean DMV report
• Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) (within 60 days from hire)
• International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Certification to be obtained within 90 days of promotion/hire

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individual.
• This position is considered Team A Essential Personnel and must report for duty in the event of a disaster.
• Ability to read, write and speak the English language.
• Ability to continuously walk the company property including outside areas, interior areas, using stairwells in 11 floor plus structure.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule (e.g. 24/7, weekend, holiday, on call availability).

Job Duties

• Enforces all company safety and security rules, regulations, and policies on company property.
• Conducts routine inspections of on-site and off-site locations of the company.
• Investigates accidents and other incidents which are assigned and reports all occurrences in a timely manner.
• Performs opening/lockdown of all buildings as approved by Administration.
• Participates in emergency response and related preparedness drills.
• Maintains required annual certifications and completes training requirements within required time periods.
• Operates and manages our visitor management system.
• Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to: respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.
• Other related duties as required.
