Job summary

Our client, a leading global investment firm, seeks a Data Analyst / Security Master & Reference Data Specialist to maintain high-quality data across a complex investment platform in New York.

The role emphasizes working with bank debt, leveraged loans, and other complex instruments, coordinating with Operations, Technology, Trading, and Risk teams to ensure data integrity and timely lifecycle updates.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in financial services, operations, reference data, or security master.

Responsibilities

• Own the day-to-day review and maintenance of security and instrument data within the firm's reference data environment.
• Review new securities and ensure required attributes are accurately captured and maintained throughout the security lifecycle.
• Investigate data discrepancies, perform validation checks, and coordinate resolutions with internal and external partners.
• Support reference data for bank debt, leveraged loans, private credit, and other less-liquid instruments.
• Monitor instrument changes to reflect lifecycle events in downstream systems.
• Handle events like loan paydowns, drawdowns, interest rate changes, PIK activity, delayed compensation, and settlement updates.
• Collaborate with Operations, Technology, Trading, Risk, and other stakeholders to resolve data and process issues.
• Partner with third-party data providers to research security characteristics and pricing/reference data discrepancies.
• Help develop and enhance operational controls, procedures, and documentation around reference data.
• Participate in system and process improvements, including testing enhancements and translating business needs into tech requirements.
• Assist with evaluating and implementing new data sources, vendors, and products.
• Identify opportunities to improve data quality, streamline manual processes, and strengthen controls.
