Job summary

Universal Health Services, Inc. in Amarillo, TX, is seeking a Security Guard for nights and weekends to protect patients, staff and facilities.

Under general supervision, you’ll perform patrols, respond to alarms, monitor CCTV, log incidents, and assist with life-safety drills and investigations. The ideal candidate holds a Texas Private Security Level II license or higher, a high school diploma, and a valid Texas driver's license.

Position: Security Guard / FT Nighs & Weekends

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, the Security Guard position provides security services for the Security and Safety Department. The Security Guard position supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence Standards to all customer groups. The employee must maintain a Texas Private Security Level II License.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• A. Responds to requests by radio, pager, telephone, or other methods of communication.
• B. Responds to emergency calls for assistance.
• C. Responds to Panic Alarms within the facility and/or Pavilion.
• D. Conducts periodic inspection tours based on pre-determined priorities and conditions.
• E. Monitors CCTV security system, and must become proficient in the use of same, and develop the ability to trouble shoot if required.
• F. Maintains logs of inspections as required.
• G. Completes incident reports as required on any Criminal and/or Civil Situations.
• H. Participates in fire drills and other Life Safety awareness programs and documents as required.
• I. Participates in and supports a process to improve performance of services.
• J. Responds to requests from the Pavilion to help with Mental Health Situations.
• K. Must attend Verbal De-Escalation Training, and deals with Mental Health patients. This training would apply initially and annually thereafter.
• L. Required to attend and be proficient at Handle With Care Training and deals with Mental Health patients. This training would apply initially and annually thereafter.
• M. Serves subpoena’s as required.
• N. Appear in Court as needed to provide testimony.
• O. Provide escorts to Law Enforcement Agencies, TDCJ, and Mental Health as required.
• P. Assist Child Protective Services as required.
• Q. Register and Log Sex Offenders as necessary.
• R. Issue and log Criminal Trespass Warnings as they arise.
• S. Required to do lockups and unlocks of doors daily throughout the facility to include the Pavilion, Wound Care, and J O Wyatt (if assigned).
• T. Enforce NWTHS Parking Policy to include Written Citations.
• U. Enforce NWTHS Non-Smoking Policy to include Written Citations.
• V. Duties not otherwise stipulated as assigned by the Director of Security.

Qualifications

Education, Training, Experience and Licenses/Registrations Required:

• 1. U.S. citizen of good character with no Felony or Class A convictions (including probation or deferred adjudication) no Class B convictions (including probation or deferred adjudication) in the past 10 years
• 2. High School Diploma or GED required
• 3. Possess a valid Texas drivers license with a good driving record
• 4. Required to hold (or be eligible for) either a valid State of Texas Peace Officers License or a valid Commissioned Private Security Guard License issued by the Texas Commission on Private Security (TCPS). Must remain compliant with TPCS renewal regulations.
• 5. Experience in arrest, search and seizure, interviewing techniques and interrogation preferred
• 6. Handle with care class required and maintained yearly

• 1. Ability to evaluate and interpret information and make independent decisions.
• 2. Must be able to work under stressful conditions and remain calm in various environments.
• 3. Ability to communicate with staff, physicians, patients, families, vendors, visitors, and others.
• 4. Ability to read, write, and converse in English at a high school graduate level.
• 5. Ability to understand laws and regulations.
• 6. Ability to perform lifting (minimum of 50 pounds,) bending, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing and pulling, standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods.
• 7. Ability to tolerate high noise levels, extreme temperatures, and/or weather conditions for prolonged periods.
• 8. Ability to understand and practice safety requirements in work involving exposure to hazardous chemicals, biological materials, dangerous equipment.
• 9. Ability to respond to pager, radio, telephone, and other auditory stimulation.
• 10. Ability to discriminate color.
• 11. Ability to perform basic math functions and measurements.
• 12. Must have normal hearing and be able to follow written and verbal instructions
