Job summary

Catholic Charities is seeking a part-time Security Guard to protect employees, clients, and visitors at our Rochester site. You will patrol the facility, monitor access points, and respond to incidents in a trauma-informed environment.

The role requires at least two years of security experience, an NYS Security Guard Registration, and a preferred Associate degree. Schedule is Sat-Sun 3pm-11pm, with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Credentials: NY State Security Guard Registration required; Valid NYS Driver's License preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of two years of experience working as a security guard.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety and security standards and complete incident reports as required.
• Patrols assigned area to protect clients, visitors, property and equipment.
• Controls and monitors access ingress and egress; monitors burglar and fire alarm systems as required.
• Manages program parking location; coordinates with towing contractors as needed.
• Observe doors, windows, and gates; use agency keys to open/close buildings; monitor for suspicious activity.
• Notify police or emergency responders as required; detain violators until police arrive if necessary.
• Back up receptionist and direct incoming calls; greet all visitors.
• Participate in staff meetings and trainings; stay updated on professional knowledge.

About the role:

Under general supervision, ensure the safety and security of employees, clients and visitors to the Agency. Effectively supports ongoing and collaborative communication amongst all program staff and is responsible for ensuring a trauma informed care environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Follow safety and security standards and complete incident reports as required.
  • Patrols assigned area to ensure protection of clients, visitors, property and equipment.
  • Controls and monitors access ingress and egress out of assigned site and monitors burglar and fire alarm systems as required.
  • Manages program parking location, alerting unauthorized use and working with towing contract agencies.
  • Examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure security; uses agency keys to open and close buildings; monitors closed buildings for unauthorized people and/or suspicious activities.
  • Informs and warns violators of rule infractions, such as loitering, smoking, or carrying forbidden articles.
  • Watches for and reports irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations; contacts emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel, as required in accordance with department standards.
  • Remains alert for the presence of unauthorized persons and/or security code violators; approaches suspicious persons and/or notifies police as appropriate; may confront and detain violators, as required, until police arrive.
• Provides back up to the receptionist including directs incoming calls to appropriate people and acknowledges and welcomes all in reception area.
• Participates in staff and department meetings as required.
• Maintains up-to-date professional knowledge through reading, workshops, and conferences.
• Awareness of and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse.
• Participates in relevant Agency meetings and/or trainings
• Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
• Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
