Job summary

WeHOPE is seeking a Security Guard to protect clients, employees, volunteers, and property at Coast House Shelter in the Bay Area. You will patrol the property, monitor entry/exit, and document incidents with clear reports to management.

The role requires a CA Guard Card and CPR/First Aid certification, plus strong communication, reading/writing, and trauma-informed, confidential collaboration with staff and clients.

Qualifications

• CA Guard Card and CPR/First Aid are required.
• Experience working with people in crisis is preferred.
• Ability to read and write proficiently.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Understanding confidentiality and trauma-informed approach.

Responsibilities

• Patrol and monitor the property during your shift.
• Discourage trespassing and manage belongings, drugs, alcohol, and visitors.
• Monitor entry and departure of staff, clients, vehicles, and visitors.
• Watch surveillance cameras for disruptions or criminal behavior.
• Provide daily activity and incident reports to management.
• Use two-way radios clearly and professionally.
• Provide CPR and First Aid as needed.
• Tow unauthorized vehicles after verification.
• Enforce program rules in a trauma-informed manner.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

The Security Guard is responsible for protecting the clients, employees, volunteers, and property of Coast House Shelter. Responsibilities include monitoring the property (perimeter, parking lot, and other areas, evicting trespassers, and writing reports detailing any occurrences during your shift.

Reports to: Program Director

Salary Range: $19 - $22 per hour

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Patrolling and monitoring the property for the entire duration of your shift

Being visible regularly outside to discourage trespassing, discourage clients from bringing extra belongings, discourage clients from bringing drugs and alcohol on the property, and discourage clients from bringing visitors to the property

Monitoring the entry and departure of employees, clients, vehicles, and visitors according to company protocols

Monitoring surveillance cameras to watch out for disruptions, suspicious, or criminal behavior

Providing detailed reports on daily activities and any incidents to management

Using provided communication devices including two-way radios in a clear and professional manner

Providing CPR and First Aid as needed

Keep an eye on vehicles parked on the property and verify with RSCs, Leads, or Case Managers if a vehicle belongs to a resident

Calling the tow company to remove unauthorized vehicles from the property

Enforcing the rules of the program in a trauma informed manner

Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Education and Experience

Must have CA Guard Card
