Job summary

Allied Universal, North America's leading security and facility services company, is seeking a Part-Time Security Officer in Fairfax, VA to provide customer service, deter incidents, and respond to emergencies. As an Armed Patrol Officer in healthcare locations, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence, and support access control while delivering professional service.

This role offers weekend shifts (Sat and Sun 6:00 AM–2:00 PM) and opportunities through our Claim a Shift

Qualifications

• At least two years of security-related experience.
• Armed guard card or license.
• Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and baton preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Must be 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Background check and drug screen required.
• Licensing requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors by carrying out site-specific procedures and access-control practices.
• Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, and other critical situations in a calm, professional manner, following established protocols.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the healthcare location, including interiors and perimeters.
• Monitor for unusual activity and document observations, incidents, and actions taken as required.
• Direct visitors and maintain a professional presence to deter unauthorized activity.

What You'll Do

• Provide customer service to patients, visitors, staff, and vendors by carrying out site-specific procedures, access-control practices, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Respond to incidents, medical emergencies, and other critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established protocols and notifying appropriate personnel.
• Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols throughout the healthcare location, including building interiors, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter areas; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
• Monitor for unusual activity, unauthorized access, and security-related concerns, and document observations, incidents, and actions taken in accordance with site procedures.
• Assist with directing visitors, supporting access management, and maintaining a professional presence that helps to deter unauthorized activity.

Minimum Requirements

• Possess at least two years of security-related experience.
• Possess an armed guard card or license.
• Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and a baton is preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
