Job summary

Milken Community Schools seeks a Security Guard to protect students, staff and visitors on campus. The role reports to the Director of Operations and involves patrolling, enforcing safety rules, and coordinating with police and fire responders during emergencies.

Qualified candidates have at least a year of security experience, a valid CA driver’s license, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Shifts include week/weekend hours, with a pay rate of $22-25 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1 year or more of directly related experience in security/operations management.
• Valid California Driver’s License required.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification current or to be renewed within 2 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily safety operations, maintaining positive communications with faculty, staff, students and visitors.
• Patrol buildings, grounds, parking lots, perimeter, restrooms and eating areas to enforce safety and school rules.
• Assist with scheduled drills and respond to campus facilities-related emergencies.
• Serve as liaison to police, sheriff, and fire department personnel as directed.
• Coordinate staff during emergencies and alarms; review incident and breach reports.
• Provide support to other operations areas as required.

The Security Guard will report to the Director of Operations.RESPONSIBILITIESConduct daily safety operations, ensuring constructive and positive communications and customer service-oriented relationships with faculty, staff, students and visitors.Patrols and monitors school buildings, grounds, parking lots, perimeter, restrooms and eating areas to enforce school rules with regard to safety and student behavior, etc., to prevent loitering and ensure compliance with school regulations and local laws.Assist with scheduled drills and appropriate response for all campus facilities-related emergencies.Serves as a liaison to police, sheriff, and fire department personnel as directed.Support School federal and state regulatory compliance requirements, including Cal/OSHA, LA Educational Code and all fire and life safety-related codes and requirements.Model Milken values.Assist with coordination and execution of security operations for specific events.Coordinate staff when responding to emergencies and alarms.Review reports on incidents and breaches.Perform other related work duties, including providing support to other Operations areas as required.QUALIFICATIONS1 year or more of directly related experience in security/operations management.Ability to work with and around people in a positive and cooperative manner.Valid California Driver’s License.Must possess strong analytical skills.Able to be on feet and walk for extended periods, including on uneven, unsteady terrain.Able to access confined or otherwise difficult-to-reach spaces.Able to lift and carry 40 pounds for up to 20 feet.Maintenance work order software experience preferred.Valid certification or re-up for CPR/AED/First Aid within 2 months.NORMAL HOURS: Week/weekend & swing shifts.SALARY RANGE: $22 - $25/hrMilken strives to be a nurturing, diverse and inclusive community.
