Job summary

MAXISIQ, Inc. is seeking a Junior Security Engineer to support RMF, DoD and ICD 503, applying security engineering principles and hands‑on expertise.

You will help select and tailor NIST 800-53 controls for RMF A&A, and engineer solutions to remediate vulnerabilities to improve system posture. This hybrid role may be located in San Antonio, Augusta, or the Fort Meade area, and involves vulnerability management, automation with Ansible, and CI/CD security across Windows, Linux, and container

Qualifications

• 5+ years as an Information Systems Security Engineer or Security Engineer with RMF experience.
• Working knowledge of cybersecurity tools such as ACAS, DISA STIGs/SCAPs/CIS Benchmarks.
• Hands-on vulnerability management across multiple operating systems.
• Proficiency with automation (Ansible) and scripting (Python/Bash).
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware/ESXi) and containers (Docker).
• Knowledge of network device hardening (Cisco/Juniper) and STIG implementation.
• Top Secret/SCI clearance and a Bachelor’s degree.
• Security Architect certifications per DoD Directive 8140.01 (e.g., CASP, CCSP, SANS GSEC).

Responsibilities

• Assist developing layered protections and cybersecurity SOPs for authorization boundaries.
• Perform vulnerability management and remediation across Windows, Linux/Unix, and containers.
• Automate and deploy security remediation configurations using Ansible and Python/Bash.
• Implement and maintain DISA STIGs and CIS Benchmarks across platforms and devices.
• Support container security with Docker and related technologies.
• Conduct vulnerability scans with ACAS and drive remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with developers to ensure secure coding practices within CI/CD pipelines.
• Delineate security boundaries and train developers on secure software practices.
• Support RMF Continuous Monitoring and POA&M remediation.
