Job summary

Revel seeks its first security engineer to build and own a security program from the ground up, spanning platform security, infrastructure, and product hardening. You will define strategy, drive architecture, and lead security initiatives.

Our software controls critical hardware across aerospace and energy sectors, running in cloud, on-prem, and air‑gapped environments. This role emphasizes real impact over compliance, with opportunities to grow the security team as Revel scales.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on security engineering experience across cloud, on-prem, and physical systems.
• Experience in product or application security including threat modeling and secure design reviews.
• Production experience with Infrastructure as Code and securing CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience securing containerized, cloud-native environments (Docker & Kubernetes).
• Working knowledge of ITAR/NIST 800-171/CUI and related frameworks and how to implement them.
• Experience conducting security architecture reviews and implementing defensive controls across endpoints, SaaS apps, and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in at least one general-purpose language (Python, Go, Rust, or similar).
• Strong production Linux experience.
• Ability to prioritize ruthlessly and own projects end-to-end without a playbook.

Responsibilities

• Build Revel's security program from zero and define its strategy and roadmap.
• Secure a platform that commands hardware and includes threat modeling end-to-end.
• Integrate security into product design and architecture from the start.
• Own the stack from Linux hosts to cloud services, automation, and delivery pipelines.
• Make secure delivery the default with scanning, secrets management, and auditable releases.
• Lead detection, monitoring, incident response, and vulnerability management.
• Turn ITAR/NIST/NIST RMF compliance into engineering workstreams and evidence.
• Serve as the security voice for defense/aerospace customers and audits.
• Grow the security function and shape future hiring.
