Job summary

Echo Global Logistics is seeking a Security Engineer with 4+ years of hands-on security operations experience to join our 24/7 SOC. You will be a core executor of detection, investigation, and response, building AI-powered workflows and driving operational excellence in a SOX/SOC 2 Type 2 environment.

You will lead investigations, tune detections, and engineer content across SIEM, SOAR, and EDR/XDR while collaborating with IT, Risk, and Compliance to surface findings clearly.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS/Cybersecurity.
• 4+ years of hands-on security operations, incident response, or threat detection.
• Deep expertise with SIEM, SOAR, EDR/XDR, detection engineering, and incident response.
• Experience writing SOAR playbooks and detection rules or queries in a major SIEM platform.
• Experience operating in SOX and SOC 2 Type 2 environments with audit evidence.
• Hands-on experience applying AI/LLMs to security operations or detection and response.
• Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Triages, investigates, and responds to alerts in the SOC queue with SLA adherence.
• Leads incident investigations, gathers evidence, correlates events, coordinates containment.
• Builds AI-assisted workflows across SIEM, SOAR, and EDR, including Claude via API.
• Engineering detection content: rules, queries, and alert tuning mapped to MITRE ATT&CK.
• Writes and maintains SOAR playbooks and automation to reduce manual toil.
• Hunts for threats by testing hypotheses against current adversary TTPs.
• Maintains the SOC tech stack, integrations, and content across platforms.
• Ensures SOX and SOC 2 Type 2 audit readiness with logging and procedures.
