Responsibilities

• Develop, test, review, debug, or deploy code supporting security protocols.
• Work with your team to identify security problems and improve the security aspects of their service(s).
• Assess risks affecting the confidentiality, integrity, or availability of data, systems, or services.
• Resolve security events and incidents and conduct security assessments using penetration tests, ethical hacking tools, or risk mitigation methodologies to evaluate vulnerabilities.
• Classify, store, and handle data in accordance with policy or best practices.
• Troubleshoot, research root cause, and resolve security or risk issues with guidance.

Job description

Protect customer data while helping build security protocols that are tested, deployed, and continuously improved. This onsite Security Engineer role in Seattle, WA focuses on assessing risk, resolving security events, and strengthening defenses against internal and external attacks, supported by hands‑on collaboration with experienced Amazonians.

Compensation: USD 152,000 per year (Seattle, WA, USA).

What you’ll do

Requirements

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Knowledge of one or more domains, including: access-control system and methodology, network security, application- and system‑development security, security architecture and models, cryptography, and operations security.
• Experience with coding/scripting in one or more languages (for example: Python, C, C++, Java, Ruby, or PowerShell).
• Be 18 years of age or older.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with AWS Services including EC2, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, and SQS.
• Experience with security tools such as Wireshark, encryption software, Snort, Sguil, Suricata, Kibana, Metasploit, Nmap, OpenSSL, or Setkey.
