Responsibilities

  • Serve as entry controller for facility and validate visitors for access.
  • Implement visitor control procedures in line with DoD policies.
  • Greet visitors, direct them, and issue visitor badges.
  • Verify visitor identity and purpose of visit and sign-in/sign-out.
  • Monitor and control access, including CCTV, and respond to incidents.
  • Process mail and deliveries; assist in inventory tracking.
  • Respond to emergencies and security alarms and enforce policies.

Job description

As the Security Coordinator, you are responsible for providing a safe and secure environment for employees, visitors, and vendors by monitoring and controlling access to the organization's facility. The role involves greeting and directing visitors, issuing visitor badges, and ensuring that they sign in and out of the facility. Additionally, the security coordinator may need to respond to emergency situations and know how to manage security systems to detect and prevent security breaches. You will work with the Director of Security, security division team members, and Parallax clients. When working with your team, you will be supporting through the management, direction, administration, and development of security programs, procedures, and facilities for those assigned programs that have contractually imposed security requirements from 32 CFR Part 117 “National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM)”, which may include the DoD Special Access Program (SAP) Manuals and Intelligence Community Directives (ICD).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Percent of time spent in this function 70%

  • Serve as entry controller for the facility by validating visitors for access to facility.
  • Implement visitor control procedures ensuring compliance with DoD policies and regulations.
  • Greet visitors and provide them with direction and assistance as needed.
  • Verify visitor identity, purpose of visit, and issue visitor badges.
  • Monitor and control access to the facility.
  • Monitor CCTV.
  • Complete administrative tasks such as answering phones or processing paperwork
  • Enforce Security policy in and around facility.

Percent of time spent in this function 30%

  • Process incoming and outgoing mail and deliveries and aid in inventory tracking.
  • Support visitor check-in for large conferences.
  • Respond to emergency situations and security alarms.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

-High School diploma or GED.

-This position requires the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

-Must be eligible for access to Special Access Program Information.

-Must be willing to submit to a Counterintelligence Polygraph.

-Must be a U.S. citizen.

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

-Strong communication, computer, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

-Experience with Security/Access Control Systems a plus

-Understanding of US Government National Policies, NISP, 32 CFP Part 117 (NISPOM), Department of Defense Manuals, and Intelligence Community Directives.

-Identify issues and develop solutions to a variety of problems.

-Ability to produce appropriate clear, concise, and detailed documentation.

-Establishing and maintaining liaison with government agencies, external customers, contractors, employees, and managers to ensure compliance with National Security Policy.

The position of Security Coordinator requires individuals to perform various physical tasks essential to maintaining a safe and secure environment. Key physical demands include:

-Mobility: Ability to move swiftly and efficiently throughout buildings and premises to respond to incidents or emergencies.

-Strength and Endurance: Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods.

-Manual Dexterity: Capability to operate security equipment, including radios, surveillance systems, and alarms, with precision and effectiveness.

-Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as packages, equipment, or barricades.

-Communication: Clear and effective verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues, visitors, and emergency responders in stressful situations.

-Visual Acuity: Sharp vision and hearing abilities to detect suspicious activities or potential threats.
