Job summary

Motion Recruitment is seeking a Cybersecurity & Compliance Lead in Herndon, VA (hybrid, 2-3 days on-site). This full-time leadership role focuses on building and maturing cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management capabilities across a mission-driven tech organization.

The role requires 7+ years in cybersecurity/GRC, hands-on leadership, and strong knowledge of ISO 27001, SOC 2, and risk management. You will shape policies and drive incident response and security operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in cybersecurity, information security, GRC, or related domains.
• Hands-on leadership of cybersecurity and compliance programs.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 27001, SOC 2, and security controls.
• Experience with risk assessments and remediation strategies.
• Vendor risk management and third-party security assessments.
• Experience creating and maintaining security policies and standards.
• Incident response processes and plans development.
• Security monitoring, control validation, and continuous compliance.
• Understanding of cloud security principles and modern IT infra.

Responsibilities

• Lead cybersecurity and compliance initiatives across the organization.
• Conduct risk assessments and remediation planning with stakeholders.
• Manage third-party/vendor risk reviews and security posture.
• Develop, maintain, and improve security policies and procedures.
• Coordinate incident response readiness and security monitoring activities.
• Partner with internal teams to drive security improvements and compliance objectives.
