Job summary

The VA’s Veterans Health Administration is seeking a Security Assistant to support the Network Personnel Suitability and Credentialing Program within a shared services unit. You will handle pre-employment processes, serve as the first point of contact for appointees, and coordinate background investigations.

The role involves data entry into multiple systems, maintaining logs, and assisting in PIV card programming and issuance, with a standard Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• There is no educational substitution at the GS-06 or GS-07 grade levels.
• A transcript must be submitted with your application.
• If using foreign education, a Certificate of Foreign Equivalency with transcript must be provided.

Responsibilities

• Review position risk sensitivity levels as full assistant to the Personnel Security Specialist.
• Serve as initial point of contact for new appointees including paid, volunteer, student, resident, and contractor.
• Initiates and reviews background investigations in NBIS or with VA-AC; follows up on pending items and records results.
