Job summary

Perplexity is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to build and evolve the software, automations, and systems that power our security operations. This role focuses on engineering security tools and internal AI-driven agents that improve detection and response, vulnerability management, and the overall security posture of our products and infrastructure.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience building security-related tools, platforms, or automations.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, or TypeScript and building production services or internal tools.
• Experience with security-relevant systems (logging, cloud APIs, identity) and threat modeling.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain software and automation for detection, response, and investigation tooling.
• Develop AI-driven agents and security bots to assist monitoring and reporting.
• Support bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure programs with triage and remediation tracking.
• Collaborate with product/engineering to threat model features and add guardrails.
• Contribute to secure-by-default libraries and data pipelines for security analytics.
• Integrate signals from cloud, endpoints, and SaaS into cohesive pipelines.
