Job summary

The Phoenix Group® is seeking a senior technologist to stay close to technology across infrastructure, identity, endpoint security, networking and automation. You will maintain and improve a Microsoft‑based environment, partnering with internal stakeholders and external providers to strengthen security and efficiency.

You will lead identity management (Entra ID, MFA, SSO), manage Microsoft 365, endpoints via Intune, and oversee security controls, patching, and disaster recovery.

Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience with the Microsoft technology stack, especially Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, Defender, and Exchange Online.
• Experience in enterprise identity and access management, MFA, SSO, CA, and user lifecycle processes.
• Proven ability to secure Microsoft environments, manage patching, and perform incident response.

Responsibilities

• Administer and maintain Microsoft cloud infrastructure, endpoints, identity platforms, and related enterprise systems.
• Own identity and access management, including Entra ID, MFA, SSO, Conditional Access, and privileged access.
• Manage the Microsoft 365 environment (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive) and security/compliance features.
• Administer endpoint configuration and management through Intune and related tooling.
• Maintain network and connectivity infrastructure, including firewalls, VPN, and security controls.
• Monitor security technologies, investigate threats, and drive remediation with internal and third‑party resources.
• Oversee patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint hardening, and security improvements.
• Assist with infrastructure upgrades, configuration management, and technology implementations.
• Maintain backup and disaster recovery processes and participate in testing.
• Document procedures, runbooks, and keep asset/licensing records up to date.
• Assist with audits and security assessments and implement AI/ emerging tech controls.

This is an opportunity for a senior-level technologist who enjoys being close to the technology rather than operating strictly at an architectural or managerial level. The role will have visibility across infrastructure, identity, endpoint security, networking, automation, compliance, and emerging technology.

The Role

You will be responsible for maintaining and improving a predominantly Microsoft-based technology environment while partnering with internal stakeholders and outside technology/security providers.

Responsibilities Will Include

• Administer and maintain Microsoft cloud infrastructure, endpoints, identity platforms, and related enterprise systems.
• Own identity and access management, including Entra ID, MFA, SSO, Conditional Access, privileged access, and user lifecycle processes.
• Manage the organization's Microsoft 365 environment, including Exchange, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, and security/compliance functionality.
• Administer endpoint configuration and management through Microsoft Intune and related tooling.
• Maintain network and connectivity infrastructure, including firewalls, VPN, wireless, segmentation, and related security controls.
• Monitor endpoint and security technologies and investigate potential threats, vulnerabilities, and suspicious activity.
• Work with internal stakeholders and third-party security resources on incident investigation, containment, remediation, and recovery.
• Oversee patching, vulnerability remediation, endpoint hardening, and ongoing security improvements.
• Assist with infrastructure upgrades, system changes, configuration management, and technology implementations.
• Maintain backup and recovery processes and participate in disaster recovery and business continuity testing.
• Maintain technology asset records, licensing information, system documentation, and operational procedures.
• Assist with internal and external security assessments, audits, and compliance initiatives.
• Develop scripts and automations using PowerShell and Microsoft Graph to improve system administration and reduce manual processes.
• Help evaluate and implement security controls around emerging technologies, including AI-enabled tools and platforms.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, runbooks, and troubleshooting resources.
• Work closely with leadership and other technical stakeholders to identify infrastructure and security improvements.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in systems administration, infrastructure, or a closely related discipline.
• Several years of experience operating in a senior‑level production environment.
• Strong hands‑on experience with the Microsoft technology stack, particularly Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, Defender, and Exchange Online.
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking and security fundamentals.
• Experience with endpoint security, vulnerability management, patching, incident response, and system hardening.
• Strong PowerShell skills and experience automating administrative tasks.
• Experience working in an organization where security, confidentiality, and data protection are important.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and operate comfortably in a fast‑moving environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to security and infrastructure management.

Preferred Background

• Experience in a professional services, financial services, technology, legal, consulting, or similarly security-sensitive environment.
• Exposure to formal security frameworks or audit programs such as ISO 27001, SOC 2, NIST, or similar standards.
• Experience with Microsoft security certifications or industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GIAC, or related credentials.
• Experience supporting third‑party security providers or managed SOC environments.
• Familiarity with cloud automation and Microsoft Graph.
• Experience helping organizations establish security practices around AI and other emerging technologies.
