Job summary

Morgan Stanley is seeking an experienced Securities Lending Trader to join its Securities Finance team in New York. The role focuses on borrower and lender coverage, inventory optimization, and platform development to maximize lending revenue across global equity markets.

The successful candidate will collaborate with Prime Brokerage, Lending Product, Equity Trading, and Risk Management to deliver financing solutions and drive platform enhancements for clients and internal desks.

Responsibilities

• Borrow and lend securities to facilitate client short sales, financing transactions, and market-making activity.
• Manage and optimize daily borrow and lending activity across a diverse portfolio.
• Price and execute securities lending transactions to maximize revenue.
• Partner with Delta One Trading on pricing, inventory optimization, and revenue opportunities.
• Identify hard-to-borrow opportunities and financing opportunities across global equity markets.
• Monitor borrow availability, utilization, fee trends, corporate actions, and market events.
• Produce actionable single-stock market color, borrow intelligence, utilization trends, and liquidity insights for internal desks and clients.
• Own a portfolio of lender relationships and monetize participation across lending programs.
• Partner with Securities Lending Distribution to source inventory and deliver financing solutions to hedge funds and institutional clients.
• Develop initiatives to expand lender participation and lending revenue.
• Represent the firm's securities lending platform with external counterparties.
• Monitor risk metrics, limits, and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure trading activity remains within risk limits and policies.
• Incorporate market dynamics into prudent trading and inventory decisions.
• Collaborate with multiple teams to improve client solutions and platform capabilities.
• Enhance trading workflows, automation, and dynamic pricing.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and client service through technology.
