Job summary

CME Group is seeking a risk analyst to perform in-depth analysis of market, credit, and industry data to identify risks, assess exposures, and develop methodologies to measure exposures. You will present findings to senior management and monitor conditions daily to protect the firm.

The position is a fixed-term engagement in Chicago, requiring daily presence in the office. The consultant will be paid hourly in the $42–$45 range and employed by a third-party vendor.

Qualifications

  • Experience evaluating counterparty credit risk in market environments.
  • Proficient with fixed income, cash treasuries and repo markets.
  • Strong Excel, PowerPoint and Word skills; Bloomberg experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with risk, surveillance and other departments on risk profiles.
  • Perform daily risk monitoring, stress testing, and escalate findings.
  • Understand domestic and international regulations and clearinghouse rules.
  • Maintain models using programming and financial mathematics.
  • Prepare responses to ad hoc regulatory requests.

Job description

The candidate performs in-depth analysis of market, credit, and industry data to identify risks, assess exposures, develop methodologies to appropriately measure exposures, and present findings to senior management. The candidate performs daily assessments of market conditions and resulting impacts to counterparties and acts as the first line of defense against systemic, idiosyncratic and counterparty-specific risks.


The role is also responsible for creating reports for internal governance committees, measuring key risks, and escalating issues as appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with market risk, financial surveillance, and other departments to familiarize others with counterparty credit, liquidity, and collateral risk profiles

  • Perform daily procedures to monitor risk to the clearinghouse, including credit and liquidity stress testing, and **escalate** findings as necessary

  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of applicable regulations at both domestic and international level as well as have a firm grasp of applicable rules in the clearinghouse's rule book

  • Use technical skills, including knowledge of programming and financial mathematics, to maintain models

  • Assist in preparing responses to ad hoc regulatory requests

Skills and Software Requirements:
  • Direct experience in counterparty credit risk evaluation

  • Knowledge of Fixed Income, Cash Treasuries, and Repo Markets

  • Experienced in Excel, PowerPoint and Word

  • Bloomberg

  • Familiarity with relational databases (MS SQL, Oracle) and SQL

  • Ability to manipulate large data sets

  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills

  • Knowledge of financial analysis at an intermediate level

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Capability to work independently as well as in a team setting

Work Schedule: This position requires a daily presence in our Chicago office, 5 days a week

CME Group is seeking skilled and experienced Consultants for a fixed term of engagement from 9/21/2026 to 12/31/2026. CME is committed to offering competitive compensation for our consultants that recognizes their contributions to the business. The hourly pay range for this role is expected to be $42-$45 per hour. The actual pay offered will be dependent on a wide array of factors including but not limited to: relevant experience, skills, education and comparison to internal consultants or employees (where relevant). Please note that while this opportunity is for a consultant role dedicated to CME, the consultant will be directly employed by a third party vendor, which would provide pay and benefits.
