Job summary

Intellias in Boston seeks a Middle Product Security Engineer to join a growing R&D organization building next-generation connected medical devices. Work with software/firmware/hardware teams to embed security across the development lifecycle.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in product/embedded security, hands-on experience with embedded systems, SSDLC, threat modeling, vulnerability management, and familiarity with NIST and OWASP standards. Medical device exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience integrating security into software, firmware, or embedded development.
• Experience securing embedded systems or connected devices in regulated environments.
• Knowledge of SSDLC, threat modeling, vulnerability management and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with NIST, OWASP and secure product development best practices.
• Ability to collaborate with software, firmware, hardware, and systems teams.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering teams to embed security throughout the product lifecycle.
• Perform product security assessments, threat modeling, and risk analysis for embedded/connected products.
• Identify, prioritize, and support remediation of vulnerabilities and risks.
• Drive secure-by-design and SSDLC practices across engineering teams.
• Support SBOM, SCA, and CVE assessment/remediation.
• Contribute to implementing and validating security controls (auth, encryption, secure boot, software updates).
• Apply industry standards (NIST, OWASP, IEC 81001-5-1, FDA guidance) where appropriate.
• Provide practical security guidance to engineering teams and stay current with threats.
