Job summary

Canonical is seeking a hands-on software engineer to own the path from upstream source to published image for hardened Ubuntu-based containers. You will work across container technologies, build scalable pipelines, and mentor junior colleagues in a fast-paced, distributed environment.

You will design and maintain CI/CD workflows, contribute to security and compliance tooling, and collaborate with product security and platform teams. Willingness to travel up to 15% and work from home is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, a STEM field, or a similar discipline.
• Strong Bash and Python scripting abilities and hands-on experience with Linux systems.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a growing portfolio of high-quality, hardened container images.
• Design and operate automated CI/CD pipelines that build, test, scan, sign, publish, promote, and retire images across environments and architectures.
• Write tooling and tests to assess security compliance and cloud-native compatibility.
• Collaborate with community and partners to share container expertise and keep portfolio current with new features and patches.
