Job summary

PACCAR is seeking a Lean Manufacturing Supervisor in Columbus, MS to drive standard work, visual management and teamwork across manufacturing departments. You will lead Kaizen events and support production standards and quality control programs to improve safety, quality, delivery, and costs.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 1–3 years (or 5–7 years in operations) of supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing, plus Lean/Six Sigma expertise and Excel proficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience is desired.
  • 1-3 years supervisory experience in automotive manufacturing or 5-7 years in operations is required/desired.
  • Excel (Pivot Table, VLookUp) proficiency is required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Lean Manufacturing principles in assigned departments, including standard work and visual management.
  • Manage process improvement efforts like Kaizen events and 5S to improve safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Drive production standards and quality control programs.
  • Ensure metrics for efficiency and performance are met or exceeded.
  • Supervise direct reports to meet business goals.
  • Support new production implementation.
  • Optimize staffing utilization for schedule stability and efficiency.
  • Improve safety through addressing safety issues and attitudes.
  • Establish accountability and develop staff to reach results.
  • Provide coverage for Area Managers on shifts as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requisition Summary

This role is responsible for driving the implementation of Lean Manufacturing principles and ensuring execution of process improvements in the areas of safety, quality, deliver, cost, morale, and environment.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing Principles in assigned departments to include standard work, visual management, workplace organization, and teamwork
  • Manage process improvement efforts such as Kaizen events, scrap reduction, and 5s to drive improvements in safety, quality delivery and cost
  • Drive the implementation of production standards and quality control programs
  • Ensures planned metrics of efficiency and performance are met or exceeded for area of responsibility
  • Responsible for managing direct reports in accordance with production objectives to meet business goals
  • Provide support for new production implementation
  • Determine and continually improved staffing utilization within assigned department which promotes schedule stability for maximum return on efficiencies
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes
  • Establish group and individual accountabilities; track goal attainment by direct reports; and provide leadership and development as required to achieve business results through people
  • Provides coverage for Area Managers on both shifts as needed
  • May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 1-3 years experience at the supervisory level in an at a automotive manufacturing environment or five to seven years experience at the supervisory level in operations or equivalent environment required
  • 3-5 years experience at the supervisory level in an automotive manufacturing environment or five to seven years experience at the supervisory level in operations or equivalent environment desired
  • Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma experience desired
  • Experience in Microsoft Office Excel (Pivot Table, VLookUp, etc.) required
  • Ability to work cross functionally within the organization
  • Ability to problem solved
