Job summary

Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 contractor delivering a major highways infrastructure project in Gloucestershire. You will be part of a collaborative engineering team responsible for delivery from planning through to completion.

The role requires prior Section Engineer experience on highway or civil projects, and a strong focus on QA and technical documentation, safety, and timely programme delivery.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Section Engineer on major highways or civil projects.
• Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractor.
• Strong QA and technical documentation experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and supervise Site Engineers and subcontractors on site.
• Ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently and in accordance with programme requirements.
• Oversee setting out activities and engineering controls.
• Review drawings, specifications and construction documentation.
• Coordinate temporary works, permits and work packages.
• Produce and manage ITPs, RAMS, quality documentation and as-built records.
• Monitor progress and provide technical support to delivery teams.
• Ensure compliance with project quality, environmental and safety standards.
• Assist with planning, sequencing and short-term programme management.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of earthworks, drainage, structures and highway construction
• Ability to manage engineering teams and subcontractors
• Strong QA and technical documentation experience
• HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline
