Job summary

CBTS is seeking a Security Operations Engineer to join our after-hours Security Operations team, supporting a large global network environment. The role is responsible for maintaining operational reliability, service availability, and security platform performance while ensuring adherence to customer and internal service commitments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, network security, or related IT.
• Experience administering Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and enterprise security technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting security incidents in a production environment.
• Experience supporting enterprise monitoring and logging platforms.

Responsibilities

• Manage Akamai security solutions (Kona Site Defender, WAF, App & API Protector, Bot Manager, Client-Side Protection).
• Administer and support Proofpoint email security solutions and related email threat controls.
• Support Splunk/Cribl environments, including platform maintenance and change validation.
• Handle incident, change, problem, and request management; monitor SLAs/SLOs.
• Maintain runbooks and operational documentation; ensure security and service reliability.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to drive continuous service improvement.

Job description

We are seeking a Security Operations Engineer to join our high-performing after-hours Security

Operations team supporting a large global network environment. This role is responsible for

maintaining operational reliability, service availability, and security platform performance while

ensuring adherence to customer and internal service commitments.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day administration, monitoring, troubleshooting,

and optimization of Akamai, Proofpoint, and Splunk solutions while supporting enterprise security

initiatives and helping protect critical business services from evolving cyber threats.

Web Security & Akamai Administration

• Configure, manage, and optimize Akamai security solutions, including: Kona Site Defender, Web Application Firewall (WAF), App & API Protector, Bot Manager, Client-Side Protection, Account Protector.
• Implement and maintain Akamai CDN services to ensure secure and high-performance
• Monitor and maintain the operational integrity, availability, and performance of Akamai
• configurations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve Akamai-related incidents, performance issues, and security
• events.
• Participate in capacity planning, performance tuning, and service optimization initiatives.
• Configure and maintain real-time monitoring and alerting for security and performance
• concerns.
• Identify and remediate vulnerabilities while supporting incident response activities.

Email Security

• Administer and support Proofpoint email security solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve: Spam and bulk email issues, False positives and false negatives, Advanced threat blocks, Domain reputation and age-related issues, Macro exceptions, Email alerting and reporting, Monitoring & Analytics
• Support Splunk and/or Cribl environments, including: Platform maintenance and upgrades, Pre- & post-change validation testing, Alert troubleshooting and optimization, Operational monitoring and reporting

Service Operations

• Support incident, change, problem, and request management processes.
• Investigate and resolve operational risks, escalations, and service-impacting issues.
• Ensure compliance with established service-level agreements (SLAs) and service-level
• objectives (SLOs).
• Develop and maintain operational documentation, configuration standards, runbooks, and
• compliance-related documentation.
• Collaborate with internal teams and customers to drive continuous service improvement
• and operational excellence.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, Information Systems, Computer

Science, or a related field preferred.

Experience

• 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, security operations, network security, or related IT
• Experience administering Web Application Firewalls (WAF) and enterprise security
• technologies.
• Experience troubleshooting security incidents in a production environment.
• Experience supporting enterprise monitoring and logging platforms.
