Job summary

Rondout Valley Central School District in Accord, New York, seeks a full-time Secondary Special Education Teacher to provide quality education to students with disabilities in a secondary setting. Qualifications

• NYS Certification Special Education for secondary grades (Math/Science preferred).
• NYSed Fingerprint Clearance.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with a team of education professionals.
• Adaptability and willingness to learn new teaching methods.
• Compassionate and patient with students and families.
• Able to work with students from different backgrounds and who have varying abilities.
• Experience working in Special Education at the secondary level is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess students’ diverse skills and educational needs while utilizing various teaching strategies and techniques to meet those needs.
• Assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student performance/progress, attendance, and behavior.
• Developing, modifying, and updating IEPs.
• Communicate regularly with parents, administrators, and other education professionals regarding student progress and needs.
• Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-related activities.
