Job summary

Elgen Staffing is seeking a Secondary Setup Machine Operator for our Worcester, MA client, a nationwide manufacturer of precision metal and steel products. You will set up and operate secondary equipment to produce quality parts per specifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years manufacturing/production experience.
• Experience setting up and operating secondary machines preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and use basic measuring tools.
• Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience in a precision machining or metal manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with quality inspection processes and documentation.
• Ability to train or assist other operators.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate secondary equipment such as presses, drills, deburring equipment and fixtures.
• Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and job travelers.
• Perform tooling changes and adjustments.
• Inspect parts with gauges, calipers, micrometers, or visual inspection to ensure quality standards are met.
• Maintain production rates while ensuring part quality; perform basic machine maintenance.
• Identify and report quality or equipment issues to supervision.
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements.
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.

Our client, a nationwide manufacturer of precision metal and steel products, has an immediate need for an experienced Secondary Setup Machine Operator, to join their winning team in Worcester.

Our candidate of choice will be responsible for set up and operate secondary machines and processes to produce quality parts according to specifications. This position supports production by ensuring efficient setups, consistent output, and adherence to safety and quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set up and operate secondary equipment such as presses, drills, tapping machines, deburring equipment, assembly fixtures, and other production machinery
• Read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and job travelers
• Perform machine setups, including tooling changes and adjustments
• Inspect parts using gauges, calipers, micrometers, or visual inspection to ensure quality standards are met
• Maintain production rates while ensuring part qualityPerform basic machine maintenance and housekeeping
• Identify and report quality or equipment issues to supervision
• Follow all safety policies, procedures, and PPE requirements
• Support continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
