Job summary

Chesterfield County Public Schools is seeking an Assistant School Librarian for a secondary campus. The role provides instructional leadership in information literacy, curates up-to-date print, digital and multimedia resources, and manages the library as a flexible learning space connected to the curriculum.

The ideal candidate will hold Virginia teaching licensure with Library Media endorsement, collaborate with teachers, and help plan a budget while guiding staff and volunteers.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Library Media.
• Experience in school librarianship and information literacy instruction is preferred.
• Ability to plan and monitor the library budget and supervise staff.

Responsibilities

• Teach information literacy skills to students and teachers.
• Maintain and manage the library collections (print, media, digital).
• Collaborate with faculty to align library services with instruction.
• Supervise library assistants and volunteers as needed.
• Prepare budget reports and generate circulation/budgetary reports.
