Minimum Requirements

• NYS Certification in Reading

Desired Qualifications

• Demonstrated commitment to district values and vision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dedication to ongoing professional learning in Adolescent Literacy and the Science of Reading.
• Knowledge of the Science of Reading research, NYS Science of Reading Briefs, and interventions such as Orton-Gillingham, specifically for struggling adolescent readers.
• Experience working with middle or high school students.

Position Summary/Responsibilities

• Instruction: Design and deliver engaging, student-centered lessons grounded in evidence-based literacy practices.
• Environment: Foster a positive, inclusive, and safe classroom where students are challenged and supported.
• Assessment: Monitor student progress, provide timely feedback, and implement targeted, evidence-based interventions.
• Collaboration & Communication: Partner effectively with families, staff, and administration; maintain accurate progress reports (including RTIM/Frontline).
• Leadership: Support colleagues' understanding of reading and writing across the content areas.
• Professional Engagement: Actively participate in department and PLC meetings.
• All teachers who are new to Greece will be required to attend two teacher induction days in August.
• Additionally, all teachers will be required to work one teacher day in August per school calendar.
